Fall 2010 Term 1 Begins Sep 7

The Fall Term 1 classes begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 and ends on Friday, November 5, 2010.  The Fall Term 2 classes begin on Monday, November 8, 2010 and ends on Friday, January 21, 2011.

Registration starts online and in person at the Adult School office on Monday, August 23, 2010.  The office will reopen on Monday, August 23.

School Closed for Summer 2010

Due to budget cuts, Alameda Adult School will not offer any classes for the summer. This includes classes at our senior facilities, such as Mastick Senior Center, which has traditionally offered year-round education.

The Alameda Adult School main office will be closed for the summer as of Friday, June 25. We will reopen on Monday, August 23.

The Fall 2010 Calendar will be available in early August. Fall registration will start on August 23.  The Fall Term 1 will run from Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, November 5. Check back here for more details in August.

Message from the Principal - Summer/Fall 2010

Principal Tom OrputAlameda  Adult School had an incredibly successful year thanks to the support of our entire learning community.  We did a lot of heavy lifting that resulted in some pretty impressive results.

45 students earned their high school diplomas or passed all five of their GED examinations - up from 38 last year.  Our secondary education programs benefited over 100 students from our three Alameda High Schools by providing high school programs after hours to help students that needed credits to graduate.

Whether this is your first year at the Alameda Adult School or you are a returning student, congratulations on making the choice and taking action to further your education.

For many of you, getting your high school diploma means hours of school work in addition to handling the day-to-day responsibilities of life, such as raising a family and working full time. You’ve made a commitment and are overcoming obstacles to make your education a top priority. You and your family deserve to be extremely proud.

Band and Chorus Concerts for Fall 2010

Band and Chorus Concert for Fall 2010The Alameda Adult School Band will hold its Fall Concert on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 7:30 PM at the Kofman Auditorium for FREE!

On Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 7:30 PM, the Alameda Adult School Band and Chorus will perform its Holiday Concert at the Kofman Auditorium for FREE.

Come join us to enjoy our famous Band and Chorus!

They offer free, one-on-one tutoring for adults (18+) who would like to improve their English reading and writing skills. Their volunteer tutors can meet with you once or twice a week for one hour.
